Love My Way eBook Kate Sterritt
This was a phenomenal 5 star read. I one clicked it directly from an ad on Amazon that kept coming up in my Facebook feed. I 100% bought this book because of the cover, I honestly couldn’t stop looking at how beautiful it was. The description that is given is extremely cryptic so I had to go with my gut and I bought it. I definitely wasn’t disappointed, I read it all in one sitting. From the very first line I was drawn in:"Even without seeing her face, I know that the woman standing at the waters edge is desperately sad."
The first third of the book is the love story of Emerson and Mereki, a first time emotional and gripping love story. I love these types of stories so much, if the author can do a good job of capturing what it’s like to fall in love the first time, these books can rank up there at the very top of my favorites list.
Emerson comes from a broken home, with an evil mother and a horrible step brother. When Mereki becomes a first hand witness to this he decides that Emerson needs a friend more than the bullies do and they quickly settle into a routine together. Ki fishes and Emerson works on her art. The back and fourth between the two characters is beautiful and subtle but you can see the love blossoming in every exchange they have: They never had a chance, it’s heartbreaking and wonderful.
"As long as we're together, I'll smile forever"
They hold off the love feelings for each other until their senior year in high school, seventeen years old, when they just can’t fight it anymore. A first kiss down by the river in their special spot together and she is lost to him forever.
Emerson wants to be an artist and Ki an architect, they want to get out of this one horse town, away from all the people that do nothing but drag them down. Emerson is already so talented, for her birthday Ki gets her a table at the art festival so she can try and sell some of her drawings, and she does! But later that night a terrible event happens changing the course of everything and everyone’s lives forever. I know it sound’s corny but I'm telling you.
Skip forward about four and a half years or so, things aren’t so great for Emerson and Ki. High tensions at home are leaving her drained and feeling incredibly distant from her partner, and now there is a super nice super hottie that wants to take her to coffee.
It took awhile for me to warm up to Josh, the character that falls in love with Emerson later in the novel. By the end though your not really sure who you are rooting for, you love all of them so much. For those wondering I’m going to call this a quasi love triangle and leave it at that. Give it a try even if you hate them, this story is so lovely and compelling.
At times I was reading with a lump in my throat, by the end I was reading through tears. The characters were so well written and they definitely made you feel all the feels. There were a few sexy parts: they were steamy but not overdone. I was not expecting the ending, when we came to the reveal I had to read it twice to make sure I hadn’t missed anything.
One thing that drives me crazy in books is when authors over do it one describing the characters, what they look like and what they are wearing. These things in no way connect me with them at all. This book was excellent in leaving those things out of the narration, and I loved it! The only way that I knew there were racial tensions going on with the couple in the beginning was because of the scenes with the bullies. This is just something that really stood out to me while reading. And last, my favorite quote from the book was definitely this truth:
"For a minute or a lifetime, some people try to clip your wings, whole others help you learn to fly."
Also, their Aussies. So, Yeah. Hotties, Mate.

Love My Way eBook Kate Sterritt Reviews
I am so excited to share this book with all my reader friends!
Maybe it's because I'm an artist that I loved these characters so much but I know I would have connected with them regardless of their creative interests. They were well-developed and the storyline was never slow. It was a perfect pace in my opinion. The sexual tension was real and not rushed and the personalities of the main characters stayed linear throughout the whole timeline of the book. I REALLY, REALLY enjoyed this very new storyline...nothing "packaged" in this love story...it was refreshing and unlike anything I've read.
This book needs to come with a warning...MUST HAVE TISSUES!!
From page one Kate pulls at your heart strings with this beautiful and emotional story of a very unusual love triangle.
Emerson and Mereki's love story is achingly innocent and precious, but as you are enveloped by it's warmth, there is also a dark and strong sense of foreboding that is woven into this story, that keeps you on edge as their past and present reveal the tragedy that unfolds.
With the introduction of the developing relationship with Josh, I felt both hope and anguish for Emerson, and really struggled not to break down and sob knowing what was coming, but I remained still so invested in their story and Kate's beautiful depiction it did not spoil the obvious outcome for me.
You have broken my heart and left me gutted Ms Sterritt, but you have also cleansed my soul with this stunning story!
This was my first book of Kate's and I am now a devoted fan!
Wow! This story line is not what I had expected. I came in to the story with a mind set that I had this book figured out and believed this is a story about a girl who would be involved in a love triangle and her difficult decision of which of the two guys would win her heart. This story took my breath away, I was engrossed with Emerson throughout the story. I was able to feel what she felt, the pain, heartbreak, loneliness, loss, and love. It was a heartbreak I was not expecting and it gave me a emotional connection to Emerson from start to end... seeing the beautiful relationship of Emerson and Mereki a love that had a been robbed from each other and how Josh has a crucial component to help Emerson find a meaning in life.
My first from this author and it was a pretty good read for me. The blurb makes you think the story will follow one path when all of a sudden, a very unexpected twist appears and you're left somewhat stunned. A surprise I didn't see coming and it made me sit back and think a bit about what had transpired thus far and whether or not I was happy about these developments.
I liked the characters for the most part but often felt scenes were a bit over the top and a reactions a bit extreme. Josh, however, was wonderful and at times I wondered if Emerson was worthy of his love. She truly struggled with her decisions and the demons in her soul so I was glad she had him to help her heal.
Ki was a true highlight in this book and his part in one of the final scenes tore me up inside. His role in Emerson's life is one that made me smile, giving her the strength to make her life her own. Together with a very tender epilogue, that saved the book for me.
3 stars.
